Business econ or Business admin? Which school is better?

lol guys thx for all the info. I did take a trip to riverside, the city seem decent, but still prefer irvine over riverside. Hopefully i can get accepted into usc or anywhere good :)

It depends on what you want to do, there’s some unfair bias towards pure Business Admin/ Accounting in this thread, top tier Econ programs have very good alumni placement, and as mentioned before it will be more Math/Econ heavy. Econometrics has great finance/ Ibaking applications but it’s very computation heavy.

My gripe with doing pure business for undergrad is that the job market is littered with people with business degrees and unless you have an emphasis on accounting/finance AND go to a school with prestige/good placement, it’ll be tough out of college. Besides, if you plan on going to B school why not consider a different area of study for you undergrad degree because you’ll end up doing business in the end anyways, why not pick up a set of skills, knowledge, etc. that you won’t be getting from B school?

Just my two cents, I will have to agree with the people saying that accounting is a sure bet where ever you go, you’re bound to land a decent gig with accounting, provided you have a decent resume. There is tremendous overlap between the majors discussed here, you can’t have any of them with out elements of the others.

I currently go to UCRiverside right now. The neighborhood is not that good once you get about 2 miles away from campus. Like it really is “the hood”. Education quality is alright, I find alot of the classes have generous curves so I’m sure you would do fine. Admission is pretty easy as well, so Riverside would definitely be a good backup.

guys, even though I did a little bit better this fall, and I was able to raise my gpa up to 3.6, BUT im still, whether, not sure about I can get into Irvine or USC. so in that case, do u guys think it is reasonable to sacrifice my dream major in business admin into Econ?
if econ, I probably can get in UCSD.
or should I go to Riverside for business admin.
with a 3.6 gpa I can get into a better school than riverside.
Also I heard UCSD doesn’t offer a true business degree, and I hate the fact that there are only 3 UCs that offer it. UCB, UCI, UCR, and USC.
Also part of the reasons that I want to get into a UC is because I want to work out of country someday.

bump for ideas suggestion :)
