Business Econ Vs. Business Admin

I’m currently at community college and I’m looking at UC Irvine as one of the schools I could potentially transfer to. However, I’m not sure what to choose as my major, and was hoping I could have some outside advice.

I want to study international business/management. None of the UC schools have a direct international business major, but UC Irvine does offer business management (so does Berkeley). I’ve heard that UC Irvine’s business school is really selective, and pretty good, but not greaatttt. Obviously, it still seems like the ideal choice.

However, as a transfer student, I’d really love to take advantage of the TAG program, but unless I do so at UC Irvine, I won’t be able to, as I’m only applying to UCI, UCLA, and possibly Berkeley (and business admin doesn’t tag). However, at UCI I could choose to study business economics and I can easily TAG as well.

I’m not entirely sure what the main differences are between these two majors and what option would be best for my career pathway, especially since I saw that UCI offers an International specialization under the business econ major that really piques my interest. Also, it is in my plans to get an MBA in international business as well.

If you know anything about business econ/management as majors, about UCI specifically, or anything related to this, please let me know your advice. Thank you!
