business economics major transfer?

Needed some clarification~~

On the UCLA economics department’s website, they said that transfer students must be admitted into UCLA with some econ major in able to declare the business economics major. By transfer students, do they mean students transferring from another college (not UCLA)? So if a student already at UCLA was admitted as a non-economics major as a freshman for undergraduate studies in the college of letters and science, would they be allowed to change their major to business economics later? What would the process be like?

Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

a transfer student is one that attended another university after HS graduation and prior to enrolling at UCLA. The only exception is if you attend a CC the summer immediately after HS graduation.

Well, kinda. If you read the info on the econ website you’ll see that to be admitted to the major you must finish all the pre-major requirements. You don’t have to switch to pre-biz-econ to take those classes.

Oh I see. Some people say that the freshmen admission rate into the college of letters and science are the same for all majors. However, I’ve heard others say that the more competitive majors like bus econ are still harder to get in. Is that true? Thanks
