hi everyone.
is there any one who's looking to pursue business economics as their major at UCLA.
I am looking to transfer from Ohio State (Columbus), and would like to get information about transfer admissions to UCLA

what do you want to know? I transfered into biz-econ

DustyB, I was wondering if Ibanks come to UCLA to recruit?
Also , whats a good GPA to transfer (for a Junior Transfer)?

Yes, all the major Ibanks recruit at UCLA.

what about transfer admissions for non CA residents/ college goers.?
How hard is it for people to get into UCLA from schools like Ohio state ?

Honestly, it may be pretty tough. Business economcis is one of the harder majors to transfer into at UCLA because it's so competitive, and as an out of state transfer you're at a further disadvantage because California community college students and CA residents are given priority in transfer admissions. What are your grades/ECs/etc like?

if you dont meet the buzecon prereqs or like you don't get into buzecon, what other majors beside economics can you go into?

whatever you want, but if you do something other than econ you're gonna have to take a new set of pre-reqs. it just means you'll be a bit behind. honestly, if you dont think you'll get into biz-econ, you'll probably know before you apply and before you finish taking all the courses. just switch out earlier, cut your losses, and start on something else as soon as possible. this is only if you know you wont make it though.

my friend took until last quarter of her sophomore year to realize she didnt want to do biz-econ and probably wouldnt get in, and then she switched to civil engineering. now she has to start all over and will have to stay for an extra year to finish. if she had realized that earlier, she couldve started on another major sooner.

Brandnew2:

Isn't it quite difficult to switch from L&S to Engineering?

Yes, it's considered difficult, but it's possible. Flopsy can probably help you more on this.

thanks everyone
I have a 3.88, and an SAT I of 1310, I have taken all prep. courses and I have A s in all my Econ classes.. I am in the Honors accounting program at OSU (quite competitive), as for EC's my involvement on campus was minimal :( I worked 20 hours a week(while taking honos classes), so I really couldnt afford to get involved..
but I Was just wondering how should I go about it. I am already a junior (I have 104 quarter hours credits.. close to 60 semester credits), when should I apply...do they take in ppl every quarter ??
Also please evaluate whether I am fit to apply or not ..

I'm not sure if it's worth it to apply when you're already a junior, or if they even accept applicants this late. Either way, I don't think transferring this late in your college career is such a good idea, especially because it seems you're doing just fine at OSU. Coming here you'd have to adjust to a completely different environment, peers, professors, school system, etc. It'd be rough to say the least.

so if i plan to take 4 classes as a prebusecon major, would this be ok:

-math 31a or 31b
-econ 1 or 2 or 11 or 41 or 101
-a GE
-a writing II course

or should i try to spread out the prebusecon prereqs out a little more?

collegegirlgirl:
uh, do you mean take all that your first quarter? First of all, you can't take econ 11 or 101 until you've taken 1 and 2, so you can cross those off your list. I also wouldn't advise taking 4 classes in your first quarter. I think Math 31A, Econ 1, and a GE your first quarter would be doable. Even then, you do NOT need to go that fast. My first quarter here I just took 3 GEs.

oh ok..so now all i need are easy GE classes. er, how many GE classes should you take a quarter to get the 10 required? as for GE classes, i'm open towards anything but i really want to find some easy GE classes. im leaning towards art/arch 10 since i've heard thats popular/easy, are there any other GEs that are considered to be popular and easy that i could take?

Brandnew2, is Math 31B a prereq for Econ 11 and 101? Or can we go straight into 11 and 101 after 1 and 2?

31B is a pre-req for 11 and 101, since both 11 and 101 use calc. Econ 1 and 2 do not use calc.
