I sent in my IDOC packet at the beginning of March, and in it I did not include the business/farm supplement, as this document wasn't listed as one of my required forms. Now, today one of my schools that uses PROFILE but asks freshmen to mail in tax forms and everything else directly to them e-mailed, saying they need the Business/Farm Supplement from the College board's website. My father (my mother doesn't work) says that the questions on the document don't pertain to him, because he's a partner in an LLC. But now I'm worried that if one school says we need the form, it may be only a matter of time before the others do. If this does come true, how do I remedy what may be an incomplete IDOC packet and get the information matched up with my file? And should I have to complete the form at all. I realize if a school is saying they want it, I probably need to, so I think my previous question is more pressing. Thanks!

The business/farm supplement will apply to a partner in an LLC. Some questions might not be applicable, but many others will be, and the goal is to allow the school to evaluate the worth of the business and your parent’s share of it. The value of that share is an asset just like cash in a shoebox.

That said, the supplement is a real pain to fill out and often requires a CPA to figure it out with accuracy. This is a drawback of owning all or a share of your own business.

Convincing a school that it does not really need to see it will require a Jedi mind trick.
