Business Grads expectations.

This is from Business Week on Bus Grads expectations.

As Interest In B-Schools Surges, The Outlook For Grads Is Mixed - BusinessWeek

are the expectations in line with reality? Is this merely what people hope to get 5 years our of MBA or is it really what the average person is getting? (200k+ seems like a lot of money for a 33 year old.)

200k is what they should be making coming from a Top school. The opportunity cost of getting an mba is so high, most people don't up make it up.

You think 200k is a lot @ 33? We have 24-25 year olds making 160k salary(law students) + year end bonus ~ 200k in biglaw. I think that's so ridiculous.

I'm assuming that most starting salaries out of these elite MBA programs average around 120K, which means to meet those expectations, they'd have to get a 20K raise every year, which seems a lot to me unless you are in IBanking/PE.

Indeed, expected starting salaries for grads are still growing, although undergrad business majors are seeing tough times.

Can someone please explain the precise reason why undergrad business majors are facing tougher times compared to MBA students? Will things get better for undergrad business majors by 2012-2013?

Business undergrads have little or no work experience and it takes time for them to be productive. MBA's are experienced professionals and they can be productive with very little training. It is assumed that these are MBA's from top schools. In hard times, MBA's from lower ranked schools will have a much harder time.

But big law kids work gruesome hours. If you want to compare to ibanking, mba kids make more than 200K (including bonus).
