For so long, all I've wanted to do was major in either European or Art history. I know that there aren't many job opportunities for a history major, but as college gets nearer, I find myself incredibly sad at the thought of doing absolutely nothing in history. My parents are pushing for me to go into business, specifically hospitality management. Is there any possible way to combine the two of them or is double majoring in history and business a waste of time? Are there any careers in art history that I actually have a chance of getting?

I used to be a hospitality management student, after I graduated, I took IR major, which is actually a waste of time. You should decide first whether what major you really wanted to take. If you truly wanna take the art history then take it but yeah the fact that it’s too hard to look for a certain job suitable for an art history major. maybe the chance of career in museums or art museums or work as a teacher will do. I do not know what specific job it is but maybe that is the only career I know for an art history major.

The possibility to combine the history and business is actually close to zero. It’s not a waste of time but it’ll take you a lot of time.

This will give you some idea of possible careers for an art history major, though how many such jobs are available or how easy they are to get is another matter:

Arts administration is one area that might usefully combine a background business + art history.

Business + history suggests interests in business history or economic history, though you’d need a graduate degree and the academic job market is difficult. Some business organizations keep archives, which suggests graduate study in library science, though jobs are scarce in that field, too.
