Is there anyone who knows they got in and did NOT apply priority?

Is everyone who got in going to Discover BHP? :)

My D applied October 16 - so missed priority by a day. She was top 10% at a TX HS that does not rank unless you are top 10. She was admitted to McCombs back in November or December.

I thought priority (or early decision, or whatever it’s called) was November 1, so if that’s correct, dallasepa’s 10/16 date would fall into that category.

And of course we’re going to Discover BHP . . . I think I enjoy a nice spring trip to Austin to reward myself for all this stress! Actually, my son is headed to UT right now. He’s spending the night with a bunch of friends. Scary :0

Oh and you’ll be able to recognize me. I’ll be the freaked out helicopter mom. Oh wait! I might be in good company!

haha windowbob

I think it will be interesting to meet everyone who has posted on this site.

Put a face to the member name…

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted into BHP so far. You should be very proud of yourselves!

My name is Eric H., and I am one of three BHP student recruiters. I’m a graduating senior in the Business Honors Program and also majoring in Finance and Plan II Honors. I encourage you to sign up and RSVP for Discover BHP, as it is a great way to see UT and McCombs as well as meet current BHP professors, staff, students, other parents, and alumni of BHP. I’ve helped out at the event for the last four years, and I know that every prospective who attended found the event beneficial.

To those who have not heard back yet, keep on waiting. We’ve only now started sending out decisions for priority applicants, so just sit tight. Interviews are slowly being processed as well, and we’re coordinating with alumni to set up interviews for those selected.

For those who have been rejected, don’t give up hope. As one of the other posters said, it’s not the end of the world, and you’ll find a place that suits you. Given that, if you’re still interested in BHP. You can apply to transfer into BHP after your freshman year of college, regardless of whether you go to UT or not. It’s a similar application to when you applied as a senior, but BHP only looks at your academic and extracurricular achievements during your freshman year of college. More info can be found at [Sophomore Admissions - Business Honors Program](http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/programs/bhp/admissions/sophadmissions.asp</a>)

Again, congratulations to the incoming Business Honors Program Class of 2014! Please reach out to me (Eric H.) or any of the other student recruiters ([Student Recruiters- Business Honors Program](http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/programs/bhp/admissions/stu-recruiter.asp#)) if you have any particular questions about BHP, student life, McCombs, UT, or Austin.

Sorry - had dates mixed up - she applied just after the priority deadline.

expandmyhorizons - we’ll need to have a special secret gang sign, like each hand formed in the shape of a C for…CC…College Confidential. ha! Or maybe write our cc names in parenthesis on our nametags.

OMG we should. That would be pretty cool.
Agreed then?
We’ll write CC on our nametags at Discover BHP

we could start a dialogue here:

To BHP Recruiter - lots of chatter on other threads about UT/Ivy, class size, bad advixors etc. What’s your experience been? In BHP do you take core classes with 400-500 students? How have your advisors been? D coming from class of 200, so a little overwhelming to think abot going to a campus that’s so big. Any thoughts?

@dallasepa, of course I’m biased, but I’ve really enjoyed BHP, and it’s probably the main reason I chose UT over other schools. BHP has 500 people in the program total, breaking down to about 120 per graduating class, and class sizes of about 35 students for core Honors classes depending on the time of day. Surprisingly, my largest class has been 100 people, but I AP’d out of many of the general UT required classes. For me, class sizes have been an issue at all. In BHP, you take your core BHP classes with students from your grade level, so by the 2nd or 3rd class, the professor knows your name and you probably know all your classmates because you have other BHP classes with them.

In terms of the advisors, they have been wonderful. In college, students have to be proactive about their education, but the two advisors, Brent and Ruby, are more than willing to help you map out your four or five year plan. My freshman year, Brent worked out a four year plan with me to let me to BHP, Plan II, Finance, with an Accounting minor, study abroad for a semester, never do summer school, and graduate in four years. Of course, this might not be the case for everyone, but the advisors are great!

-Eric

can anyone tell me what the interview questions are? im really nervous and i just found out i have an interview coming up!!

We could tell you. But then we would have to kill you! ha ha!

I honestly have no idea since I’m just a mom who didn’t find out her son had an interview until 2 weeks after the fact…but there is a good post in the main CC forum about interview questions that should be able to assist you about every possible college interview question imaginable!

Obviously: Why do you want to come to the University of Texas? Why do you want to be in BHP?

They aren’t trying to stump you; just relax, be yourself, and you will do fine. I can say that now, knowing that if I had actually known when my son’s interview was, I would have probably had a panic attack on the spot. lol!

I do know that they asked him if he had any questions for them, so if you do, now’s the time to ask.

Good luck! I know you will do fine! I’m pretty sure my son enjoyed his time with his interviewer and I’m sure you will do the same.

The questions were addressed in am earlier thread. BTW, did you apply by the priority deadline?

no i didnt apply priority sadly. this is for the second round. hopefully i have a chance
