Business Internships

Hi all,

I’m really sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum; I’m not sure where else to post this. I’m currently looking for an internship for high school students related to the business administration/marketing fields. I’m located in Southern California, in Orange County, and I’ve been searching for any opportunities, but I have not been able to find many. Are there any sites or opportunities that can help me! Thank you for your help and I appreciate the effort.

You’re having difficulty b/c searching for “business internships” are like chasing unicorns. The really don’t exist. The ones that do, are b/c some relative decides to do someone a favor and let a 16 year old hang around some business operation. But the irony is that colleges know this too. It’s simply a matter of who you know – not as if there’s much to really “learn” or “experience”. Real business internships are part of recruitment programs for summer hires with the hope to vet some for eventual full time offers.

You’re frankly best off getting a job. Really. Bag groceries, become a server, camp counselor, work retail. See how people make choices and businesses really allocate their resources. Interact with customers and co-workers. Hone your work ethic. A job is one of the best ECs a HS student can have. Much better than the “internship” some kid’s uncle gets her – again completely transparent to colleges.

But engineering internships aren’t as transparent right?

So you’ll be given some data to crunch or maybe fill out some docs. There aren’t many HS internships that are really that spectacular. Really. Go get a job.

Unlikely that any substantive job in that arena would go to a HS student when there are plenty of college juniors/seniors (who have had coursework in the area) looking for similar internships.

I agree with @T26E4 I wanted to get a “business internship” over the summer but I realized it wan’t going to happen… Nobody wants to hire a 17 year old. I gave up and got a job at Kumon instead
