Business major in management @ W.P. Carey

Ok, so I am currently a high school sophomore in SoCal that has been looking for potential colleges these past few weeks. So far, I really like Arizona State University and its business program. In the future. I would like to get into the Business Administration/Management arena. I saw that the W.P. Carey school of business is one of the best business programs in the country. I know the acceptance rate for ASU is fairly high but is it as easy to get into their business program?

I am unfamiliar with a lot of things. As a college freshman that is getting an undergraduate degree, I would probably be interested in getting my Bachelor of Science in management. In order to do this, would I have to get accepted into the W.P. Carey school of business in order to get my undergrad as a college freshman? If so, how hard is it to get into their business program? What do they look for in an applicant?

By the time I have ended my junior year, I have planned to take 6 AP/Weighted courses (3 per semester of Junior year). For the first semester of my sophomore year, I got off with a rough start. By the end of this semester, it looks like I will be getting a C in math. This is my very first C and hope it will be the last. By the end of my junior year, I plan to have around a 3.4 unweighted and a 3.6 weighted.

My extracurriculars include: 8 years piano at local music school, 3 years club swim, and varsity swim team throughout my entire high school career.

I know I am still a sophomore and I have not taken the SAT or ACT but how can I get into the W.P. Carey school of business? Am I on the right track?

First off, you’re pretty smart for considering WP Carey. Great school. The deal with Carey and ASU in general is that it wants to allow people to attend if they choose to. Getting in is not the problem–the selectivity of other schools is the opposite of the New American University. Graduating well, engaging, getting good grades, taking advantage of the incredible resources ASU has is what will make the difference. The Supply Chain Management program–the BS–is the ticket at WP Carey. Disproportionately high opportunities for the students who are serious about doing well and engaging. Massive return on investment is also so high.

Just focus on getting in with your grades and test scores. Doing well and taking advantage of opportunities is what will make the difference. Best of luck.

@EngPII Thanks for the info! This first semester of my sophomore year has been very difficult and it looks like I will be getting a few C’s but I plan to do better in my next three semesters. I hope to get around a 3.3 UW GPA by the end of my junior year. Will those C’s have a negative impact on me getting accepted?

@EngPII Also, would I have trouble getting into W.P. Carey with a 3.3 UW GPA? Is it competitive to get into, or should I not worry too much? Answers would be much appreciated.
