Business Major Transfer- Do I have a chance?

I’m wondering how competitive majoring in business accounting is at CSULA. I’m current a cc student hoping to transfer by next fall. I have a 2.9 rn because I failed a class not needed for my major and I’m not sure if I should retake it. Any thoughts? I would be doing the ADT and I’m not local.

Based on impaction information for Fall 2017, you needed a 3.1 GPA for transfer if you are non-local. I would contact CSULA to confirm.

How many units is the class that you failed? I would personally say retake the class depending on the units, it could have a major impact on your GPA and it’s also a safer option. Speaking from personal experience, I failed a five unit Accounting 2 class twice, and I retook it for the sake of my GPA. I got accepted at CSULA (local) and CSULB (non-local) with a 2.45 for Economics.

HOWEVER, if you have other classes that are REQUIRED that need to be completed ASAP, then retaking this failed class should be your last priority. Universities tend to consider your major classes more anyways (this is what I was told by a recruiter, don’t quote me on that).

I made a thread here expecting to not get into any Cal States at all. Ended up being admitted for transfer to CSULA for CS with a 2.95, no ADT, and non local. I say retake it if possible.

@hopeless12 Hi I saw you got accepted to CSULA. Congrats. I didn’t get into UCI and my next option is doing the physics courses to be able to apply to more places like CSULA or CSULB. Any advice on how to get through those hard physics classes?

@makaveli96 For the physics classes, practice practice practice. If you don’t understand some concepts, Google is your best friend. The best way to make sure you understand the material is by doing practice problems. The physics classes seem intimidating at first, but once you understand the material, you’ll realize that it wasn’t that bad at all. You’ll do fine!
