Business major vs. Liberal Arts Economics?

Which will prepare me most for a career in business?
I want to eventually be an entrepreneur.

My business school options are
BU, Northeastern, UMass, and Babson

Liberal arts is Occidental College

Please help! I'm so torn.

Do you want to eventually work back out east or would you like to stay in the west? All of your options are stronger regionally than they are nationwide.

I want to live in the west coast eventually but I’m not sure if I want to move out there so soon. I’d like to work in New York at some point too… Right now the location isn’t as much of an issue as the workload itself. I can’t decide whether a liberal arts education would really prepare me for a business career. :</p>

Also, out of those choices would you say that BU has the best nationwide business school reputation?

BU has a great undergrad business school. However, I recommend that you double major - BA in Econ in CAS and BS in Finance in the B school.

That’s a great suggestion thank you for the input londondad! I agree. I think a double major will give me the most well-rounded and challenging education.

Do you think that a double major as you said in BU and a liberal arts degree in Economics at Oxy would give me the same degree of preparedness for a business career? If not, which one would you suggest?

Both Oxy and BU are great schools. However, given your career options, I would recommend BU.

I wouldn’t necessarily double major in Econ and Business… If your goal is business, go get a business degree because aside from a few intro courses, economics is not that useful in the business world.

You’re better off majoring in Business and minoring in Econ. You can go for the double major if you want, I’m just saying that business is a way better applicable degree than Economics.

I think the majority of people would disagree with you on this one.
