Business Major with CA&S minor?

Looking at the undergraduate catalog the CA&S section lists several business areas you can add as a minor in addition to a CA&S major. However, I don’t see the same option if you are a business major. Does anyone know if you can have a business major and a CA&S minor (example finance major and bio or chem minor) and if so how do you go about it? The core requirements are different for the two colleges so I guess you would fulfill the core requirements of your major. Would you then just add the CA&S minor and enroll in those courses or is it more complicated than that?

Minors don’t have “core req’ts” like majors do. You fulfill the Core for your major.

I know that some B majors do have A&S minors because some are in CBH (which is a A&S minor)…and some are getting foreign language minors.

ahh…just found this…

NOTE: Please consult the University catalog for specific requirements in order to complete a minor in another academic area.

Students in divisions of the University other than the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration may select one of the following business minors, subject to the provisions stated below. Approval from the student’s dean is required.

 • Management

Technically, business majors can have a major/minor in anything in addition to their business major. It’s up to the student to fulfill all major/minor requirements and the additional major must be declared. Your college of record will be CBA and your degree will be granted by CBA.

Oddly enough, there are some majors/minors traditionally offered by other departments (notably math and modern languages) that are administered by CBA when part of a CBA student’s degree plan.

If you decide to major in economics, be aware that while taught by CBA faculty, a student can major in Economics either through CBA or through A&S. The A&S version bypasses a lot of CBA-specific requirements, but requires more economics courses.
