Anyways, I'm guessing my stats are good enough to get into Santa Cruz, Riverside, & Merced and I want to major in business.

I'm not really considering Merced, and I have heard lots of bad things about Riverside like social life and environment, however they do have a business program.

I would like to go to Santa Cruz, but i heard they don't have a business major, but only a economics major with an emphasis on business, or somesort of BizEcon major, but not business. I was wondering how that type of major compares to a typical business major.

I'm thinkn I might be better off at Cal States or Privates cus none of the UCs seem to fit me..

If you give us your stats, we can always chance you. Santa Clara University could be an option for you, it has a good business program. :)

I actually have a friend at UCSC...her major is "Business Management Economics". I could maybe ask her about it, see if she has any insight as to how it's different.
Also, check out the major's page on the UCSC website if you haven't already.

I would approximate my stats as 3.25 unweighted. 3.7 weighted. 3.6 UC Weighted. 1850 SAT.

Yeah, that's the major! Business Managements Economics, how does that major compare to a normal business major, I'm guessing it's economics with a few accounting / management courses which means more math more economics / less business which doesn't appeal to me but thats just my guess, can someone tell me about that major and how they like it??

yeah, SDSU & C SLO sound good for me, however, would I be a reach to them?? or a match?? i know its hard sdsu if not in area, which im not, and i heard slo was hard to get into this year.

I’m in a similar position to you. My UC GPA was around 3.6-3.7 and my SAT 1960, my college major being Economics. I applied to all the UC’s sans Merced and the only schools I got into was SDSU, UCSC, and Riverside.

Im choosing to attend SDSU. The area is very beautiful and I live about 40 mins away from SC and I want to go somewhere further for college. Plus the San Diego area has lots of internship opportunities if you keep your eyes open. Thats not to say UCSC isn’t good either. It is a UC after all and you’ll get a solid education. It all depends on what suits you best.

I would say you are a match for UCSC and SDSU, and a slight reach for Cal Poly.

I live in San Diego, and some people like SDSU and some are just disgusted by it calling it “STDSU”. I tend to agree with the latter, so I would stay away from it. But, the University of San Diego is really nice and has an excellent business program. I’m in a similar position too
