If i want to major at business, would rice be the place to go? how does it compare to the ivies, stanford, northwestern, wash u @ st. louis, u of c, and emory?

umm… it doesnt

Rice doesnt have an undergrad business degree. for comparisons, check out US news and world report rankings

There is no business majors for undergrads at Rice. There is only a business minor (which consists of only a few courses). Also there isn’t a undergrad business major at Stanford, Northwestern, Wash U, U of C and Emory and all of the Ivies except UPenn either. So no, Rice is not the place to go.

I think that a major in business is, in general, more likely to be offered at state schools, though even most of the University of California schools don’t offer one. Rice and many of the other schools you’ve mentioned are likely to offer something that’s a stepping stone to graduate school, such as a degree in economics.

Most people that go into stuff like management consulting or i-banking either major in something technical like a natural science or engineering, or they major in economics (usually math/econ). I’m not sure about placement, but it is pretty good, since you get a lot of recruiting from the companies in Houston.

If you’re specifically interested in accounting, I would look to UT-Austin.
