Business Minor as an Engineer - Worth it?

hey guys,

I was just wondering if it is actually worth it to get a minor in business. I'm an engineer at cornell and I have almost a free extra year because of AP credits and placement tests. So i was looking for other things to do and i found about this business minor for cornell's AEM. Any inputs?

It's not going to help you land a job. You may learn some things that will be useful in the long run though. If you can, I'd recommend graduating early instead.

Its worthless, just as much of undergrad business is. You will be much better off going directly for a MBA.

or....just work on one more year so you can graduate with your MS. in engineering in 5 years...then you can get your MBA...or get another engineering major...or minor in CS...or stuff like that.

The only way this would really be worth it is if you did econ as a minor. Business just doesn't seem to cut the mustard in a case like this.

If it were me, and I really wanted engineering, I'd just stick with that and graduate early, to get a head start on the job market.

graduate early as a engineer, thats really funny, it doesn't happen.

i586,

plenty of people graduate from engineering early. not everyone takes 4 years. i came into college with 34 AP credits, 22 of which translated into degree credits. so there, I could have graduated in 3.5 years. A lot of people graduate in 3.5 years so they can finish the masters too all within 5 years.

i586, it isn't impossible to pull of scheduling miracles, especially if there's AP credit involved. I will graduate in 4 years, with a double major in engineering and science. And I had no AP credit.
