I'm a sophomore undergrad in ECE and i want to apply for business minor. Since I'm a engineering major, do i have to apply for the Engineering and Technology Minor or can i apply for general business minor?? Also, how hard is the application process?? And if i have pretty good(3.5+) GPA and had taken all the required prereqs do u think i can get in??

No you don’t have to do the Technology and Management minor (which I assume is the one to which you were referring) that is offerred as minor in both engineering and business although it is definitely one to consider if you want a minor. You should talk to your adviser about a minor in business. For some key and requirements info for a business minor in general go here: [Course Information Suite, Course Catalog, Class Schedule, Programs of Study, General Education Requirements, GenEd](<a href=“Course Explorer”>Course Explorer)

Note the requirements you need to complete before junior year to be accepted for the minor; als0 note that the calculus and computer science course requirements can be easily met by other calc and CS courses you likely have already taken in engineering. Generally, it is not difficult to get acceptance to pursue the minor unless your grades suck.

going 1 level up, how easy is it for an engineering student to double major?

An engineering major cannot double major in business because the business college does not accept double majors from other colleges. Whether you can double major in something else really depends on what it is. If it is in another college, like LAS, you need to be accepted into that college for the major beginning junior year, and that means meeting any required course work for the major in freshman and sophomore year, and coming from engineering that can be a bear because the course requirements for engineering majors make it difficult to take required course work in other majors. However, if it is something like math or chemistry, you can usually easily do it because you will be taking the required basic courses as part of engineering. Ultimately, it is not overly difficult to be allowed to do a double major, but as a practical matter it can be real difficult simply because the course requirements for engineering fill your plate each semester.
