Business Or Economics ??

I am getting straight As in econ aand m pretty interested in it...but i dont know if i shud go for business or econ for college...coz business is more widely recommended...and i can hardly find econ as a major in any colleges...so does anyone have a list of top 50 economics/business colleges ?? ...thnxx

A lot of people who plan on going to business schools to get MBAs major in economics. Economics majors can choose whether to study in the Liberal Arts college or Business college at many major universities.
This site has a list of the best schools by major.

From what I understand, business schools are harder to get into than the liberal arts schools of major universities... Also, business school's curriculum's are much harder and intensive than the liberal arts schools (aka can't take as many electives, etc.)

And as the previous poster said, you can generally major in economics in the liberal arts school.. you would not have to be in the business school and deal with all of their requirements.

You may want to read up on majors you may like in the business schools.. if you're not leaning towards any of those majors or find them interesting.. It wouldn't make sense to be in the business school.

heyy thanks a lott....and i looked at the list of best schools acc to majors....but the prob is that it states only the best schools..like stanford n all..which i m pretty sure i wudnt be able to get in...as my gpa is 3.3 and SAT is 1810 ...so yeah...any other goood colleges??

and yes thts truee...i am mostly interested in econ only, so maybe liberal arts is the best option....but my parents are forcing me to go for business as they say that business schools get more recruitment and all...so dunno...i really dont mind any but the point is, where would i get accepted with such scores...are they good enough for schools such as UIUC , USC ...Indiana...Texas - Austin... n a few others...

any other econ good colleges??

thnxx

Eh. You won't be able to get into a tippy top school with those scores.. and you can't go to college for your parents. You'll be unhappy and not want to be there. Won't end well.

Bigger Schools
Smaller Schools

I don't know too much about any of the business schools. You'll have to research/ask others.

I'd go for economics. IMO, it's much more interesting and you're enjoying it.

Maybe you'll eventually go back for an MBA. No need to get an MBA-lite right now.

yeahhh...m thinking of economics, but cant find any amazing schoool...except for amherst...which is almost impossible for me to get in...so yeah...any other goood economics colleges..which are comparatively easier to get in... !?

and thnxx for the link hottyankremix ....but those schoools are mainly all Not in top 50...and i was kinda hoping some of them were...coz syracuse and all...are actually pretty easy to get in ...many of the guys frm this year's batch got in pretty easily...so thats not a prob...

Those are schools for "B" students. You did say that your GPA was 3.3 and your SATs were 1800, correct? (may have been a different thread)

These schools are much more up your alley if I am remembering your stats correctly..

no no , you are right...but i am not sure abt my gpa...coz m new to this system, and our school (its IB) ...has gpa's from 4.5 ...and my gpa is 3.78/4.5 ...so dunno if i am right in calculating it..but wud that be 3.3...sry, not sure ??

and i am not considering any of those schools, because most of the students of this year's bach got accepted in most of those....and m talking abt students with worse record than mine...and my scores went down because i just shifted to this new school and js t came to japan...so dunno if that actually affects anything..but yeah...thnxx anyways ;)

Hah you have the same problem as me! My school does out of 4.5. The grade calculation is probably wrong because a 3.3 is a "B" I believe. If you have your grades with you, the link below will help you calculate. You can do it all complicated with multiplying by credits and then dividing by total but an estimate would suffice.

GPA Conversion Chart

yeahhh i checked that, but i dont get it, coz does that mean each individual grade...coz like...i got A in econ, B in math....so...dont get how its supposed to be calculated...!?? darn m confused ><

Do you know what a 3.78 is equal to on a 100 point scale? I don't know how they do it internationally.. A is 90-100, etc? Then you could just see that a 3.78 is equal to a 94 which is equal to a 3.7 or w/e?

aaah thnxx man...i have literally no idea though...haha...il ask my councellor and post it here soooon... :P ...till then lets consider it 3.7 ... :D ..is that any good!??
