Business or History??

I want a career in Business. I didn't get accepted to Marshall but have been accepted to USC as a history major spring semester 2001. For a future career in business, should I accept USC history major and then decide what to do for my Masters, or go to a SU as a business admin major? I know USC is a great school with great network and had set my heart on Marshall, but would it be worthwhile to get a history degree just for the USC name?? I have a 3.7 gpa. I love history but don't want a career in it! What are my chances of a good career with a business degree from an SU? I need some good advice please.

Oops - sorry— typing error. I meant of course spring semester 2011. Thanks.

Any business degree > degree in history. Go with a business degree, and you will at least be able to find some kind of job after graduation.

Thanks so much Toshtemirov… I was thinking the same thing but wasn’t sure and ended up going in circles! Yes, a business degree will get me on the right ladder. Thanks for the reassurance.

Minor in history if you are really interested. Remember a minor will not put you at any competitive advantage. It just serves as a conversation piece (something to talk about).

Thanks SP, you’re right. I was just thinking of a history degree from USC (prestigious name, etc.) as opposed to a business degree from, say SDSU. But of course a degree in business, not history, is what I’m aiming for (even if it’s not from USC!!) Wow, this whole application process is making me a little crazy I think!!
