Business-Oriented Gallatin Students/Alum?

The concentration I wanted to follow was really quirky. I won't go through it here but it combined pre-law, political science, and economics.

This is a path I really want to follow, but after I graduate I'd like to work in a finance-related field. I fear that the Gallatin name will hinder me, though, and that I wouldn't have as much as an advantage in securing a solid Wall St. job/internship compared to going to Cornell (I was already accepted, but I think I prefer NYU).

I already have an internship with goldman sachs so I know how to network and get offers, but I fear that because we have such a stellar business school (Stern) and a solid economics major (CAS), that my "Individualized Study" degree will be looked at as some third-tier bs. I already get weird looks from my parents who are pushing me towards Cornell but I'm just not too crazy about Ithaca.

Are there any business-oriented gallatin students or alumni that can quell my qualms?

I have the same fears about Gallatin. I would have liked to be in Stern, but I didn't think my math scores/classes were good enough.

I want to work in Finance, possibly in S&T. I know that there have been previous students who concentrated in International Business, and that there are alums of Gallatin who work in Finance, I believe I read that one is a VP at GS.

Just look at it this way, NYU has a stellar B- School, great Econ, we get to take both! You get to decide the description of your degree, Econ and Finance will overshadow Gallatin when its coming from NYU.
