I'm having a little bit of a dilemma between how I want to split my time between research, volunteer work, internships and self-started business projects.

Currently I'm an econ major taking courses from econ and accounting to chem and physics for pre-med. I'm a fairly business minded person, but science and medicine is very interesting to me as far as subject matter goes and I don't want to disqualify myself for medical school admission, but I feel like if I don't focus on one sector I'll just be hampering myself in both(medical research is less valuable in business and an internship at merryl lynch seems a little irrelevant to medicine. It's also harder to do pre-med courses and MCAT prep when I have completely different major requirements that don't satisfy any GE's to finish and "pointless" GE's flaked on top). I know some of you may come to the conclusion well just combine the two and try for hospital management or pharmaceuticals, however, I'm not really interested in either of those two things.

I think my main question is, does anyone have any stories about applying with little research and clinical hours and instead pretty strong commitment to other projects (in my case business internships and ventures..)
