Business Program

I was wondering which college should I apply to if I want to be involved in the business field-marketing, advertising, etc. I saw that Cornell's major business program falls under CALS, but I'm not so sure.

why would you be not so sure? It's Cornell's accredited Undergraduate business program, ranked #4 in the nation, and #1 in finance.

AEM in CALS is Cornell's premier Business program. If you want to be involved in the general "business" field, then this is the program you want to be in. Otherwise, there are majors such as communication. Take a look at the majors, the courses, the departments: decide which one you would be most comfortable with.

If you want to explore the "people" side of business, take a look at ILR.

If you wanna do i-banking or wall street try an econ major. IMO it looks better than CALS but if you just want to be involved in running a business/managing do CALS. Either way you are going to get a great education. Also an econ major would be better if you wanted to go to graduate school. But I'm just letting you know econ is CAS is much harder than AEM and I'm not just saying that bc im an econ major. Many kids plan on doing econ but drop out when its time for econ 313 (intermed micro econ). Plus us CAS kids go to the AEM school for easy A's. Just giving you the info...its not a huge difference but it was noticeable enough for me to pick CAS over CALS.

BTW!!--Cornell dropped to #11 from #4 in the U.S. News rankings for 2009 but it doesnt really matter, rankings are stupid.

um no it did not, it was ranked 4th in the nation by businessweek and not US News and their 2009 ranking has not been released yet

Here ya go: US NEWS: Best Undergraduate Business Programs 2009 | WallStreetOasis.com

No my friend, here you go.. Undergrad - BSchools

You are mixing up rankings, it was never ranked 4th by US News, just businessweek.

thanks everyone so much for the advise! rankings are important, but not everything to me because they change yearly and i think it's more based on your own work ethic.
