Does anyone know if U of P offers a business program that goes from undergrad to doctorate that saves time? i.e. not 4 yr of undergrad, 2 yrs of master, then 4 or 5 yrs of doctorate? And how good is its grad. business school anyways?

Wharton has submatriculation programs with Penn Law, Wharton MBA, and Wharton PhD. You get your BS/JD in 6 years, your BS/MBA in 5 years, and your BS/PhD in however many years it takes for your courswework and dissertation. All of Wharton's divisions (undergrad, mba, phd, exec ed) are all fantastic. But how do you know at this point that you want a PhD in a business discipline?

Yea, Penn's graduate programs are superb. In Business, Wharton is tied for #2 with Stanford (and below Harvard). In law, Penn Law is #7 (behind Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, NYU and Univ. of Chicago). Still great if you submatriculate as an undergraduate.

FYI, though, receiving an MBA from Wharton in 5 years is really hard.

For a business phd, I would recommend getting some work experience first. This is what I am planning to do. Its because business is such a practical field as opposed to academic, and having industry knowledge would greatly help. I've just recently met a marketing phd student who worked for about 5 years after getting an undergrad degree in mechE. He says the work experience/product knowledge greatly helped him in understanding the marketing aspect. He also noted that many business phd's do in fact, have some work experience.
