oh...and the schools i'm currently looking at..

Georgia State
UGA

Ga Tech
Emory
UNC-Chapel Hill
UMich-Ann Arbor
UTexas-Austin
Georgetown
Indiana-Bloomington
UPenn (For Kicks and Giggles)

oh..and not a fan of NYU Stern (went to the meeting and got completely turned off by it. Did not enjoy their double major policy)

bump! bump bump

lets see:
Georgia State: Accept
UGA: Accept
GA Tech: Likely
Emory: Unlikely
UNC- Maybe
UM- Reject
UT Austin- Unlikely
Georgetown- Reject
Indiana- Maybe
UPenn- Forget it
NYU Stern- Forget it

This is why its a lot better to go to a crappy noncompetitive public school than one of those crazy competitive top schools......o_o

UNC..a likely?

C'mon, I even know thats highly UNLIKELY!

i need someone who actually has gone thru the Biz process.

Has gone through the application process or the degree for business? He's pretty much right, as long as you consider his terminology as:
Accept-Match (80%+ chance?)
Likely-Match/Slight Reach (40~50% chance?)
Reject-Reach (<25% chance?)
Forget it-Forget it (<10% chance?)

Your rank is lousy.

Georgia State: In
UGA: In

Ga Tech: In
Emory: Maybe/ Likely
UNC-Chapel Hill: Maybe
UMich-Ann Arbor: Unlikely/ REJECT
UTexas-Austin: Unlikely
Georgetown: REJECT
Indiana-Bloomington: Likely/ In
UPenn: REJECT

"This is why its a lot better to go to a crappy noncompetitive public school than one of those crazy competitive top schools......o_o"

Try actually going to a noncompetitve public school and tell me it's better. Don't speak if you don't know.

Georgia State--Safe Match (in-state)
UGA--Safe Match (in-state)

Ga Tech--(not a business school)--Slight Reach
Emory--Slight Reach to Reach
UNC-Chapel Hill (OOS)--Match (look, your GPA will carry you here--and you don't have to qualify for the business school until the third year)
UMich-Ann Arbor--Slight Reach
UTexas-Austin (OOS)--Slight Reach
Georgetown--Slight Reach
Indiana-Bloomington--Safe Match
UPenn (Wharton)--Reach

Other business schools I'd consider:

Notre Dame--Match to Slight Reach
Villanova--Match
Ohio State--Match
Virginia (OOS)--Match to Slight Reach
USC--Match to Slight Reach (closer to Match)
Illinois--Match
Cornell--Slight Reach
Wake Forest--Match to Slight Reach
Wisconsin--Match
Bentley--Safe Match
Pittsburgh--Safe Match to Match
Carnegie-Mellon--Slight Reach

And if you want to be a wild and crazy guy and apply to Wharton, why not:
UC Berkeley (OOS)--Slight Reach to Reach (closer to reach)
MIT--Reach

Don't be so hard on yourself--yes, the rank is lousy--but of the schools on this list, only Cornell, MIT, and Wharton really go by the rank compared to the GPA. Your GPA is excellent.

P.S. I'd drop Georgia Tech off of your business school list and concentrate on some of the others.

And as far as going through the business school route--I'm a MBA from UCLA and my son is currently at Indiana Univ at their Kelley business school (a sophomore). His high school sailing partner is at MIT in the business school (Sloan)--he's a junior. My son also took courses at Virginia's McIntire Commerce school this summer.

I disagree with other's assessment about UNC. They accept 19% of OOS applicants. It is near impossible to get in OOS. The OP has a better chance applying to some Ivies than UNC.

Your GPA looks a little low for Michigan - you could get in LSA there and then apply to the B-School after a year. It's still a reach. Indiana is a sure bet, same with UGA and Ga St. I'd say that Ga Tech is a match as well.

Texas will be hard to get into, it's a reach. Emory, Georgetown, Penn, and UNC are all reaches. UNC accepts 19% OOS applicants to their school, McCombs accepts 20% of all applicants to their school.

REACH:
Penn
Texas
UNC
Georgetown
Emory
Michigan

MATCH:
Georgia Tech

SAFETY:
Indiana
Georgia State
Georgia

FYI: I know you probably don't care but, for UC Berkeley, you can only apply to Haas Business School as a junior.
