Business School Ranking: UCI vs UCD ?!?!?

UCD = #47
UCI = not top 50

what happen to UCI this year?!?!
They were suppose to rise with Merage name change.

UC Davis MBA Program Ranks Among
Nation's Best for 11th Consecutive Year

For 11 consecutive years, the UC Davis Graduate School of Management has been ranked among the top 50 business schools in the nation by U.S.News & World Report.
<a href="http://www.gsm.ucdavis.edu/ProspectiveStudents/index.aspx?id=240&m2=184&m3=4&m1=6%5B/url%5D">http://www.gsm.ucdavis.edu/ProspectiveStudents/index.aspx?id=240&m2=184&m3=4&m1=6</a></p>

The magazine's latest survey, released March 31, 2006, places the UC Davis MBA program 21st among business schools at public universities and 46th overall.

The UC Davis Graduate School of Management has been ranked in the top 50 every year since 1996, and continues to be the youngest business school within a public institution ever ranked by the magazine.

UC Davis is one of only 35 business schools to be ranked in the top 50 for 11 consecutive years.

Our most recent accolades also include:

U.S.News & World Report: Ranked #2 among full-time MBA programs with 150 or fewer students.
The Wall Street Journal 2006: Corporate recruiters surveyed by the Journal rank the Graduate School of Management among the top 35 regional business schools in the nation.
The Financial Times' Global MBA 2007 survey ranks the Graduate School of Management #1 in the field of Organizational Behavior and among the top 50 MBA programs in the U.S. and 76th in the world.
The Economist Intelligence Unit, a division of The Economist magazine group, ranks the UC Davis MBA program 80th in its global business school survey. The UC Davis Graduate School of Management placed 26th for the quality of its faculty.
Business 2.0 magazine has included the UC Davis MBA program in its “Insider’s Guide to America’s Top 25 Business Schools” for two consecutive years.
Forbes 2005 “Best Business Schools” issue ranks the UC Davis Working Professional MBA program 16th among part-time MBA programs nationwide based on graduates' five-year return on investment.

UCI shot up to #38 last year from about #49 the prior year due to a massive donation ($20 or $30 million) from Mr. Merage (the Hot Pockets guy). So who knows what happened this year. It is a relatively new program, so will probably take time to settle in.

It's weird though because, the most recent Financial Times had them at:
* 2007: Full-time MBA Program is ranked #31 in U.S. and #49 internationally;
<a href="http://www.gsm.uci.edu/AboutSchool/FactsFigures/index.aspx%5B/url%5D">http://www.gsm.uci.edu/AboutSchool/FactsFigures/index.aspx</a>

So who knows. They are both solid programs but they are both more regional schools and I wouldn't dwell so much on the rankings, but think about where you want to work since they are both more regional schools as opposed to Haas and Anderson.
