I am currently a high school sophomore in SoCal. My current unweighted GPA is 3.4 and I know I can change that because I will be taking 6 AP courses (3 per semester) my junior year to increase my weighted GPA. So far, my first semester of my sophomore year has been the most difficult. It looks like I will be receiving a C in math. This is the first C I have ever gotten and hope it will be the last. Next year as a junior, my plan is to take AP Biology, AP History, and AP English which will increase my overall weighted GPA.
These past few months, I have been thinking about some potential colleges I would like to attend. I am interested in going into Business Administration/Management. I have a few schools in mind but what good business schools could possibly be an option for me?
My extracurriculars include: 8 years of piano at local music school, 3 years of club swim team, and varsity swim team throughout my high school swim career.
I know I am still a sophomore and have not taken the SAT or ACT yet, but what schools should I be looking at with a 3.4 unweighted and 3.6 weighted GPA by the end of my junior year?
Since you are still a Sophomore and you have 3 more semesters to bump up your grades/GPA, it is a bit early to star looking at schools especially without any test scores.
For the Cal states, only your CSU GPA and test scores are considered to if your GPA is lower than average, you can make up for it by getting a high test score.
For the UC’s, GPA is king so other than UCR and possibly UCSC, your chances will be low unless you can get your GPA up to a 3.9+ weighted.
Just based on where your current GPA stands:
San Diego State- possible with high test scores
Cal State Long Beach- possible with high test scores
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal State Fullerton
Sonoma State
Chico State
Sacramento State
University of California Riverside
Chapman University
University of La Verne
Thank you for the information! I have been looking in California, but I am also open to any schools out of state as well. What are some good business schools that could be an option for me out of state?
