Business School Strength vs. Overall Prestige

Well I believe I will be attending Texas' business school (McCombs), which is one of the top business schools in the country. However, I am wondering if I made the right decision and choosing it over USC California and NYU (although I hate NYU, lol). Although Texas' business program is just a little bit better, USC is a significantly better school overall than Texas (if i switch my major). But then again Texas is at least 20,000 cheaper (cheaper than that If I qualify for instate, which there is a good chance). My parents could pay for USC, but I don't think it is worth it if I do business. But what If I decide not to do business?

I have heard that your undergraduate school does not play a huge role in graduate school admissions, so If I changed my major would it really matter that I went to Texas? I do however think that it DOES matter for business since you will get a job immediately afterwards, in which case both USC and Texas are strong.

What do you think?

P.S. I will be applying for Texas' Business Honors Program next year. I also think I would be happy at Austin, although I wonder if there would be a lot of personal attention. I don't know about USC.

Thanks in advance!

Woah.. Why did you choose Texas over NYU.. Even though you hate NYU .. there are like 92372948234 people (ok, exaggerating, but you know) people who desperately want to get into Stern because it is THE place to go for business.. but okay.. Texas is very strong too.. but yeah. ::shrug:: I'm useless.

If you can get into business honors you will have absolutely no worries when it comes to jobs. Even regular McCombs is supposed to do a good job putting kids on the street.

Chocolateisgood - Haha, yeah a lot of people have questioned me on that. However, NYU doesn't really have a sense of community, has a really weird student body, and you have to really go get what you want. It doesn't help that it's 47,000 (at least I got a small scholarship from USC). I just think I would enjoy my college experience much more at either Texas or USC. But I did get rejected from Wharton, otherwise I would have gone there :).

Thanks for your guys' input, but what about If I decided to switch to a non-business major?

at UT? don't do that. Instead, pick up another major as a double if you want a liberal art, its really not all that bad.

I have just been accepted to University of Arizona and Michigan State University.
I am a business marketing major and i am looking for a fun yet reutationable university.

I have done my research, an UA and MSU ranks almost the same under "US News 2006 undergraduate business program".

I haven't been to either campus but i hear MSU's campus is great because it is an agricultural college. But UA is based in tuson, AZ, and i have seen pics of the campus and it looks great.

I know that the party scenes are also great at UA and MSU.

Academic wise, UA and MSU holds about the same also. Does anyone know if majority of students at UA or MSU are smart (i mean will influence ur future) or are they just a bunch of average Joes??????????

But i think MSU hold it over UA for reputation wise, i mean it isn't a bad school.

I got a scholarship to UA for three years but never got one from MSU.

PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DECISION!!!!! I"M BEGGING SOMEONE, SHARE SOME WISEDOM!!!!!!!!

Go to MSU for business. I am guessing your Indian? I had an Indian Friend who went there and he is now studying corporate law at Yale he said it was top notch. Arizona only has regional job oppurtunities if you ask me.
