My HS junior is looking for a business school. He has a 4.4 GPA, strong class rank, is likely be NM commended or better, had a 30 ACT score as a sophmore, and decent ECs (multi-sport varsity, community service). He does not have the hook or the drive for an Ivy. We would like to find a college with a great undergraduate business program that is not ridiculously competitive but still has an excellent placement rate for its graduates. Any suggestions?

Wharton (Penn)
Sloan (MIT)
Goizueta (Emory)
Ross (UoM)
Stern (NYU)
McCombs (UT)
Kelly (Indiana)
Kenan Flagler (UNC)
Georgetown
Haas (UCB)
Marshall (UCLA)

Boston University (SMG)
USC (Marshall)
UVA (McIntire)
WashU (Olin)
Wisconsin
Penn State (Smeal)
Maryland (Smith)
University of Washington
Minnesota (Carlson)
BC (Carroll)
Michigan State (Broad)
University of Florida (Warrington)
Georgia Tech

That'll do.

UCLA has no undergrad business school, only grad (Anderson). However, they do offer business economics degree. Marshall belongs to USC, not UCLA. Indiana's business school is spelt Kelley, not Kelly.

Hence the name 'noobcake' ;)

Villanova School of Business

Nova's is pretty overrated IMO.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any gueses on which might be safety/match/reach schools of UMich, Indiana, UNC, Georgetown, BU, UVa, Penn State, Maryland, Mich State, U Illinois UC?

Safety: Indiana, PSU, MSU, UMD
Safe Match: BU, UIUC

I dont think any of them are really super reaches, but GTown, UNC, UVA and UMich are the most difficult to get into.

I dont know the out of state stats needed for UNC and UVA, but I think he'd get in if he keeps up a high GPA.

Does he have any interest in Babson?

It's totally insane to apply in Haas Berkeley's business school because they only accept the top of the top students. The school does not also accept freshmen applicants. It's better for you to set your sight at Wharton and MIT Sloan.

ut honors business
