Hello!
I'm looking for a few more schools to apply to next year, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! My college list so far (for business): Elon, UMichigan, UNC-CH, Purdue (double legacy), and WashU. I have enough reach schools and so if anyone could think of any match schools, that would be fantastic!

Here are my stats:

I'm a junior and my current unweighted gpa = 3.53 weighted=3.9
SAT: 1810 (planning to take it again in October, would love to get a 2000 :))

Currently taking an online marketing class
Taking a french class at UNC-CH next year

I'm going to be a Governor's Page this summer

Awards so far::
NC Scholar-Athlete Award
Varsity Letter (volleyball)

I will not need any financial aid
Sorry for the long post...but let me know what you think!

Just pick a couple in-state schools for matches/safeties. After all, it’s the most economical route.

i’m thinking of maybe applying to nc state (along with unc-ch and elon). other than those 3, there are no other schools in nc that i would be interested in applying to. i would really love to get out of north carolina and i would be willing to apply to colleges in any state (for the most part!)

If you can bump up your SAT’s and your high school sends your weighted GPA on your transcripts, then you could get some scholarship money from Indiana (they have a good business school, 11th in the nation according to U.S. News).

Because of your EC’s in the area of social responsibility you should look into university of colorado boulder Leeds school of business.

thanks for the suggestion ncmentor! i will look into that univ.

any other suggestions?

any other suggestions?

Only one, Why are you limiting yourself to business? Lots of people who want a business degree really need a MBA (depending if they are interested in Corp or enterprise management). If your going to need an MBA then you may want to consider a different and valuable undergraduate degree… You may want to look into NC State’s first year college program if you need to explore some options.

it’s not that i’m “limiting” myself to business, it’s just that i’m really interested in it. i’m thinking of also getting a minor in psychology, so i wouldn’t only be studying business.

btw, i’ve looked into nc state, and i am really not interested in it. the school doesn’t offer what i would really like to study, plus i was not pleased with the campus tour i took.

You have done more things in high school than I’ll ever do in my whole life.

lol! yea, i’ve done a lot of stuff that’s all over the place, but i love getting out and helping my community.

also (i don’t think this would really make any difference, but i might as well include it here) i would tryout for the school’s club volleyball or intramural sand volleyball team. sooooo i didn’t know if that would be worth noting on an application?

Yeah, you can put your intramural teams under activities in your resume. Some people go as far as adding “champions” or “first place” on there if they win. And if you make it to the club team, the same goes for that.

oh no, i don’t think you understood me sp1212. I meant I would try out for the intramural volleyball team at the college that i end up going to. i’ve played volleyball in high school, and i would like to continue playing it in college. so, my basic question is: is it worth putting down on college applications (somewhere) that i would try out for its intramural or club volleyball team if i was accepted and did in fact attend that college.

Oh no you shouldn’t do that because you haven’t done it yet.

ok yea i was wondering if expressing interest in trying out for those specific teams would mean anything to them. just curious, that’s all.

bump 10 char

Have you ever looked at Bryant University? It’s a purely business school in Rhode Island, and highly respected in the area. I would recommend looking into it! Also, Bentley University in Massachusetts is another respected college that is mainly focused around Business. With your stats, I believe you could get into both.

Bryant and Bentley are both reputable - also check out Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT - excellent business school and stellar Honors Program and merit scholarships with your stats.

thanks mike and springisintheair for the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into those schools!
