Business Schools in Indiana

I am a HS junior trying to narrow down a list of colleges. I want to stay in Indiana because I have 21st century scholars which gives free tuition of a public college or the same amount for a private college if I stay in state. I get good grades, mostly A's. I am interested in business, mainly accounting. Please help me rank these colleges based of not only academics but whatever else you might deem important (food, dorms, town, random pro's/con's).

Ball State
Indiana University Bloomington
Butler
Marian
University of Evansville
University of Indy
Valparaiso

Also, if there are any other colleges I might have missed please tell me.

IU Bloomington first and last. If you get in there, don’t even consider the others.

I have no affiliation with IU other than my best friend graduated from there and loved it.

BTW, you didn’t list Purdue.

You missed Notre Dame as well if that would be of interest of you. I would put it at the top of the list for quality even with IU Bloomington.

I fotgot that one too! ND would cost the OP though.

It may cost depending on the financial situation. They meet 99% of need so if you can get in and your parents really don’t have the money to pay for it then they will probably get you the financial aid you need.

Money is a factor so ND might not make it, however I had thought about it. Plus their website said their major was in accountancy… Not totally sure if it is the same as accounting so why I left it off. If it is the same thing please let me know.

I left Purdue off because I had heard it had engineering and nothing else. Please correct me if i’m wrong.

From what I have read so far IU is my top choice. If IU doesn’t work out what others should I consider. Is there any colleges on my list I should not go to?

accountancy=accounting, just a more pretentious name. :-)

While Purdue is best known for engineering, it has a business school:
[Purdue University - Majors](http://www.admissions.purdue.edu/Majors_Programs/majors_details.php?MjrCd=ACCNT)

Not familiar with the other schools you list.

ND, Purdue and IU are pretty close. The rest–well behind.

Thanks for the help.

Indiana, Notre Dame, Purdue.

As someone who lives in Indiana, let me throw out some additional choices as well as perspectives. IU has an amazing business school, and if you are a Kelley Direct admit, that is the ideal situation. IUPUI is also an excellent choice. Same education and often cheper proce (though it is not the party school of IU’s calibar). Purdue does have business, and it is an excellent school.

Butler is a great school, but it is tough money-wise. Valpo is well known in the region, and seems to be the school of choice for kids from the local area that don’t want the huge school environment. I am not a huge fan of Ball State, but they have some excellent programs.

It is my understanding that 21st century scholars will pay up to a certain amount at private schools and it was based on need. If your need is aboutthe same now as it was when you qualified in 8th grade, many of the schools in Indiana have generous aid. If you are not absolutely certain about business, Wabash (if you are a boy) and DePauw are very generous with aid, and have a great small school experience.

Here is my new short list.

Ball State
IU Bloomington
Purdue University
Butler University
Notre Dame
Valpo
