I'm a rising junior and I want to apply to apply early decision either to Cornell Dyson AEM or to Wharton. Other schools I'm considering are Boston U, NYU Stern, Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Tufts University, UChicago, and Duke. My SAT scores are 760M, 730W, 730R. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and 4.8 weighted (its capped at 4.8)
I haven't taken any SAT 2's yet. I will end up with 11-12 AP's by the end of senior year. I will be ranked 1 by the end of senior year if I don't get a B.

Disclaimer: These SAT scores are an average of my practice scores. I know its not official but I want to see what my chances are with these scores. My first SAT scores were 210 points lower in October. Thanks and sorry about that

My extracurriculars include:
1. Playing the piano for over 12 years (winning awards state and region wide, the competition is recognized by all colleges, I will probably be submitting an audition tape)
2. President of a stock investment club that I founded since the end of sophomore year. We hosted a school wide competition and gave out prizes.
3. Secretary/VP of a Chinese cultural club I help founded junior year
4. Science Olympiad contestant (won state last year with team, placed in events, attending nationals)
5. DECA/FBLA (placed in state, possible officer next year)
6. Volunteer (hopefully over 100+ hours at library by end of senior year, help manage reselling discards of whole district)
7. Key Club member
8. Help run, manage, and micro-finance a small food business of a young couple
9. Starting own non-profit/business this year

Most of my clubs I have been participating since freshman or sophomore year. I might be officer of another club next year.

My recommendations should be decent to excellent and my essay will probably be decent (optimistically haha). My passion for the piano and finance and micro financing will probably be the centers of my essays.

I will probably major in finance and maybe environmental science.

I was thinking of either starting a SkillsUSA chapter or envirothon chapter at my school. How would that impact admissions? (of course I would not start it just for the sake of starting it).

You have pretty good stats.
You can try:
Stanford University
Northwestern University (Kellogg)
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Ross)
University of California, Berkley (Hass)
University of Southern California (Marshall)
Georgetown University (McDonough)
Washington University, St. Louis (Olin)
University of California, Los Angeles (Anderson)
Rice University (Jones)
University of Nortre Dame (Mendoza)

haha, if we don’t make the playoffs apply to UC Merced or somethin. @KOBE GET US TO THE PLAYOFFS. I won’t take any more of this “Dwight isn’t cooperating” nonsense.

hey, rising junior with those stats… dude, you’re way better off than i was-- and probably way better off than most other people too, if you think about it. you’re way ahead of the game. :)

your ECs clearly show an interest in the business field, so that’s good! you also have a few other things (like the chinese club), so that shows well-rounded-ness and whatnot. i think as far as ECs are concerned, you are pretty much set for the schools you have in mind.

your GPA is top notch (obviously). just keep up the good grades during the hell that is junior year (trust me, i’m not even done with junior year yet and i feel like i’m drowning in school work). get a solid score on the SAT (2250+), those SAT2s, and the APs and you’ll definitely be a strong candidate to any school you apply to.

Ivies: to be honest, they’re all a crapshoot. i know that’s what everyone says, but watching 3 classes before me go through college season, it’s proved itself to be true, time and time again… just try your best, and wish for the best of luck. your stats prove you to be an excellent applicant, though
not really sure about business majors in general at the schools you listed, since i’m not familiar with how that particular major impacts admissions… sorry i can’t be of more help. you’re definitely on the right track though! thanks for chancing, and good luck with all future endeavors :)

I dont know all that much about ivy league admissions but based on your stats and also those of people are applying to similar schools, it would appear to me that you have a fairly good shot at acceptance into several of these schools.

Many people get flustered when they see this reply, but you should make an attempt at Penn State University Park (Smeal) and apply for the Schreyer Honors College. PSU gets a bad wrap for being a ‘party school’ but has a top 25 business school in the country and has been #1 with corporate recruiters for 3 years in a row (very important for your future). Probably a safety for you without the SHC, but I would honestly give it a shot.
