business undecided

does anyone know what usually happens if you major in business-undecided? i was admitted to the business school, and i am just wondering:
A. when you HAVE to declare a major
B. if theres any way i can declare a major now.
C. what the curriculum would be like if this is my major.
Thanks a lot.

bump......

Hey pj, this won't help you any but my S's acceptance packet arrived today and he's not home to open it. Where did your packet say "business undecided" (because with any luck his will too.) Would someone be able to see that through the outer envelope?

worrywart,

It will say so on your Maryland Planner. I think it's pretty hard to see without opening the envelope.

Rats! But thanks for replying.

YES! Business undecided :o)

pj, i think a lot of undecided business majors end up being general business majors (unless you do choose to switch and actually declare a major). check out the business school webpage for the curriculum requirements for each major, including general business.

does anyone know what it would take to switch really early, like BEFORE i even start at maryland from general business to either accounting or marketing?

pj, i'm not even sure if that is necessary, because business students must take certain prerequisite courses that probably would take all of freshman year min, and two years max. it doesn't really matter what major you are until you're ready to take the classes specific to a major, and that's after comm, math, stat, acct 1&2, econ, etc. you might come in with certain credits that let you skip math, econ, or accounting, but then there are more requirements, such as higher level econ classes, and your regular CORE requirements. so what i'm saying is that normally, you wont have to worry about your major until you're qualified to take those specific classes which most likely isn't until your sophomore year at the earliest.

right now, i'm put down as accounting but i actually want to do international business and finance. but there's no rush, i'm still in the process of getting my requirements done with!
