Business Undergrad vs Business Graduate Program

So I'm in a bit of dilemma... I just finished my first year at UF, but lately I've been considering changing my majors, currently I'm doubling in Art History and Theatre. And my current plan was to do UF's Master of Science in Management one year Graduate Program, after I complete my undergrad. My ultimate career goal is Arts Administration, but in this economy my dream job seems further and further away. Of course with any degree in business, that would be transferable to other career paths. I'm just hoping business in general will turn around. The estimated cost for the grad program is around $25,000 dollars. Which my neither my family or myself, will have to fork out after paying for undergrad expenses. While reading up about the MSM some people stated that because the program is for those who have zero undergrad business experience, its exactly like getting a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. So technically I could save money and go ahead and get a BABA, if its the same.

So my dilemma is, should I change to a Business Administration General Studies major, with a specialization in Art History (so my credits don't go to waste) and double major in Theatre, or continue with my current plan and go on to get the grad degree?

I have lots of reservations about this decision already because a) I came to UF wanting to study something I'm thoroughly passionate about for my undergrad. b) I'm pretty bad at math, much more of a history and writing person c) I'm already pretty far ahead in my Art History program, after my first year I have 39 UF credits and 69 total due to Summer B and heavy course loads. d) For me to switch now and graduate in the next 3 years, I'd have to do 2 Summer C sessions.

Any advice about my situation, the BABA-General Studies undergrad program, or the MSM graduate program, would be greatly appreciated!

Any advice about the

I think graduate school is the better option here. The MSM program is pretty solid in my opinion. You may have to take out student loans, but that is the nature of the beast when you get a terminal degree.

The Warrington School of Business at UF does not allow double majors. A minor is no problem.

At this point I wouldn’t worry about graduating in 4 years. Summers should be reserved for building your resume.

skibum,

no offense, but i have friends in the Warrington college who are double majoring/dual degree-ing. certain majors in the college aren’t allowed too. but the General Studies Business major can.

freshgator,

thanks for clearing that up. as a business - general studies major, will I be able to double major is another business major? I was under the impression that this wasnt allowed. Thanks

Personally, I believe that business education is better suited for the Masters level anyway. do yourself a favor and take a basic statistics and intro calc class to showcase your quantitative aptitude and background to the admissions committee. That will go a long way in gaining admissions as well as being able to sail through the coursework. Good luck…
