Business- Uni of Rochester or George Washington Uni?

I want to major in Business.
I applied Financial Economics at Uni. of Rochester
and I applied Accounting at George Washington Uni.

I wonder which one I should choose considering the few personal preferences above
-I don't care about the campus size
-Less International students would be nice
-Is the weather similar in these two places?
-living expense?
-Which one is more famous? (I know U of R is ranked higher but it seems like no many people have heard of it)

kameow – It’s pretty tough to call. Can you give us any more information? The weather will be better at GWU, but more importantly you should consider the cost of the school and the fit.

Although you don’t care about campus size, you can receive more personal attention at U of R (ONLY if you seek it!). GWU is a huge campus…

Thanks for your replies!!
I got $5000 scholarship a year for rochester.
And I am just going to seek for bachelor degree because of the financial problem I have.
I do want more attention as an international student; the college I am in, they don’t care about international students much; and I have never gotten help from them. That’s why I would love to study at a university that has less international students.
I am also very concern about the rent expense because I want to live off-campus. Besides, if the school is near the more convenient neighborhood(I can have a little fun hanging out with my friends), it would be nice!

but I personally have never been to the two universities because I live in Iowa and it is way too far for me to pay a visit. That’s why I need some help over here !! Thanks!

Finding off-campus close to campus can be an issue in Rochester. There isn’t a whole lot due to the location of the River campus. The campus is a triangle-shape with the river on one side; cemetery on another and the med school on the third. Much of the closest to campus housing get snapped up by med students who need to be close to the hospital. If you’re willing to take the city bus to campus, then your options open up a good deal.

Rent in Rochester will be much, much less than rent in DC.

Many international students choose to live in the Southside dorms–which are about 10-15 minutes from the main part of campus.

GW has better general name recognition simply because it’s located in DC. Many students are attracted to the idea of being close to the power center of the US government.

Approx 9% of UR’s undergrad enrollment are international students. (2009 data from IPEDS and UR Fact Book 2010-2011.) At GWU international student make up about 6% of their undergrad enrollment. (IPEDS data)

Thanks! Would this be a good and trustworthy place to look for apartment in rochester?
[rochester, NY apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist](http://rochester.craigslist.org/apa/)

Do you know if it is more stressful to study in the financial economics in rochester or accounting in washington D.C?
I am a hard-working student but I am not talented on either of the major I chose.
I want to know about which school has smaller class size and better reputation on staff?

UR has a Off Campus Housing database

http://www.rochester.edu/reslife/offcampus/#

The Housing office may be able to answer questions about leases and various leasing agencies. When D1 need to rent a summer house/apt, she went thru a private leasing agent based in Rochester.

I would suggest that you look at the bus routes and familiarize yourself with those before starting your apartment search so you know which places are close to bus stops/routes. Unless you will have a car.

I’ve never used CraigList to find an apartment, but I know people who have. (But not in Rochester.)

I cannot say which school will be more stressful. Don’t know anything specifically about the business programs at either school. Class sizes at both schools ought to be about the same–large lectures (200+) for the introductory level courses and 30-100 students for upper level classes.

Thanks for your advice! I will go on the school’s website to have a look.
Yes  I will need to have my apartment search when I get to Rochester, which will be the end of June; after 18 hours of drive. So I am still thinking where I can stay while searching for apartment. Do I have to stay in hotel?

FYI, most off campus live across the river in the part of th 19th Ward neighborhood right near the two bridges over the Genesee. Some live more towards South Wedge, which is only slightly farther, especially if you bike.

I am glad that University of Rochester has a off-campus housing advisor for international students. if any international students need his email, feel free to ask for it. He is very efficient and with all the details attached.

George Washington offered $7500 sscholarship to me today…
I am in between again…
