<p>I'm a freshman at Virginia Tech and am currently Business Undecided, but I've always wanted to do something in the medical field. I decided on pharmacy, so after talking to the science adviser here I'm thinking of taking pre-pharm requisites but staying in the Pamplin College of Business because I'm good at it and would be able to earn a high GPA. Tech is also soon to be offering a Nueroscience major which I think I might want to double major in. What business major do you think Pharmacy schools would look favorably on?</p>
<p>Just be sure you know EXACTLY what you are getting yourself into with pharm. Pharm is increasingly becoming consolidated and automated which mean more pharmacists will lose jobs and that new grads will have to compete with pharms that have tons more experience than them for new jobs. Also, there’s going to be a huge surplus of PharmDs with the number of schools that keep opening up and pumping out PharmD degrees like candy. Pharm has gone down the same path as law–huge amounts of debt for increasingly gloomy job prospects due to more technology and oversaturation of the labor market from schools pumping out too many degrees.</p>
<p>I’m not here to ruin your plans, but just want you to do a LOT more research about jumping into pharmacy before you fully decide to do it and also before you take out $100,000+ in loans that are non-dischargable.</p>
