Bussinesses

Hey,

I am interested in starting my own business. I would like to start it over the summer. I am very interested in medicine and have volunteered. But, I would like to try something new. Does anyone have any recommendations on businesses that could be started, some that might deal with medicine or healthcare? I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm interested in this as well.

I hate to rain on your parade... because I'd like to do the same thing, but there's really no way to start you're own business in high school. It'll probably be a lot easier just to get a job. I would think starting a business is really hard considering all the paperwork and everything.

If you really want ideas you could probably try searching for some teenage entrepreneurs and see if you can get any ideas from them.

I have a stable business going on the net. (all self taught by hunting down tutorial after tutorial through google, and a lot of trial and error. Couldn't afford many books back then [ghetto neighborhood], so that's how it was.)

Basically, I've been doing web programming since I was about 10 years old. So I've put my web programming knowledge to use doing paid work and developing/running a browser based MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game). Really well designed games like these tend to become popular and make thousands (millions if the game gets absolutely enormous) every month of premium memberships and advertisements.

Yeah i wouldn't say it's that hard to get a business up and running, although taxes are a pain in the ass (i own 2).
Once you have an idea the best thing to do is check your state's web site to get the forms you need and whatnot. As far as medicine and healthcare you might run into trouble as chances are they'll require some sort of degree or vocational certificate thingy.
Really I don't think asking people for ideas on what do do is gonna get you anywhere. If you want to successfully start a business you're going to need to have your own ideas in order to find a niche, keep yourself motivated, and have a solid business plan. I'd be happy to help as far as the logistics side of things goes tho

Research research research. And you might need some startup capital, and since you're in high school, you should get your parents to lend you some money to start up. Whatever loan you're going to get is going to be ridiculously expensive and will eat up whatever profits you may make (for ex: no bank will give you a loan, so you might have to use credit cards. My credit card interest is now 23.24% once the 6 month 0% APR promo period ends. So beware). You can start a blog about something you're interested in, and sell ad space, or something like that. Internet based companies are relatively cheap to start up and don't require lots of capital. PM me if you have questions.

If you need help starting an internet based company, let me know. I can guide you step by step on how to self host on your own server, and write a Content Management System (small fee of course for the CMS).

You don't need to host your own server...buy one from me :D
