<p>We had planned to visit, but one of my DD's major criteria is that the school be in a city or nearish (a couple of hours?) to a good one. I'm being told that Appleton really doesn't qualify as a city. Is there anything cultural, concerts, etc. going on there? I'm reading that Minneapolis is a great city, though its about 4 hours from Appleton. We're visiting the Twin Cities anyway, but I'm not sure that an 8-10 hour roundtrip drive from there to Appleton is worth it. Should we visit?</p>
<p>Appleton is a small city (80,000) with the usual limitations. It's only a couple of hours from Madison which has most everything as far as concerts and cultural events that anyone in college could want. But 2 hours is a pretty long way to go for a show on a regular basis.</p>
