are those who get their decisions online sunday rejected/waitlisted? I know someone said that's how it was last year or something, but can anyone get a confirmation, maybe calling and asking (though i can't imagine them admitting it)?

And i'm pretty sure its not by region, since i see plenty of people around me in PA and even one in MD got accepted (i'm in MD), while i still must wait.

possibly its according to applicants' Last name's initial ... they may have been grouped like {j,k,l} .... and random groups' decisions may have been sent

called them up this morning. they said getting the decision on sunday means absolutely nothing. they just have so many applicants (23000+) that they aren't able to release decisions all at once.

Just looked at last year's application stats - about 22,500 applications last year. Over 23,000 this year is not that many more. Northwestern went from something like 20,000 to 25,000, making their acceptance rate <8%. Was hoping the same thing hadn't happened here.

first off, this cant possibly be all the accepted people. even for people on CC, with the number of applicants to cmu, there is no way under 100 got in. second off, what about those notified of successful auditions? i havent heard of any of them getting online acceptances... don't read so much into this?!

Why on Earth - with respect to the online system - would they post all acceptances than all rejections? In fact, if they had entered in all acceptances they would just have to write one line of code that would post a rejected message instead and bypass the "Where am I?" message.

My gut instinct is that the basis of admissions posting date is something that correlates very, very well with acceptance but isn't acceptance.

I'd really be surprised if they sent out all acceptances two days before all of the rejections. I can't think of any good reason for them to do that.

Okay, whether I get accepted, wait listed, or rejected, I'm going to call Carnegie Mellon admissions and tell them what a terrible practice admissions phases are.

I mean, really - no other college I know of does this - and for good reason.

99% of the problem I have with this whole system is not knowing when I am going to know... I don't care if I get rejected.. just tell me when I will know... the Ivies were just like "Everyone on march 31st 5:00pm" and Voil
