But where to go for this transfer student?

High School stats:

weighted GPA: 4.72/5.00
rank: 72/465

AP's:
US history: 4
Spanish language: 4
English language: 4
English Lit: 4
Psychology: 5

work: 15+ hours as a waitress

extracurriculars:

School tutor grades 11 and 12
Privately hired Spanish tutor summer after 12th grade
Speech team grade 12
Reality Theater (a theater group promoting a substance free lifestyle) grade 10-earned 350+ hours of community service doing this
Junior Varsity Bowling Team grades 10 and 11

Accepted into:
Lawrence University
Beloit College
Loyola University Chicago

Wait Listed:
Washington University (last year they didn't let anyone off their waitlist because of over-enrollment, but I have no doubt I wouldn't have gotten in)

Rejected:
Pitzer College (I'm still bitter about this, because everyone thought I was a shoo-in)
Scripps College
Grinnell University

Currently at (the worst University ever) Loyola University Chicago
and the bad, bad, VERY BAD college GPA: 2.5 (cringe)

So does anyone have any suggestions for colleges? I'm definitely sticking out another semester here and (hopefully) bringing my GPA up significantly. Help!

ETA: What do you think of re-applying to Lawrence or Beloit?
Also, what do you think of:
UIC (it's cheap!)
Hendrix College
Lake Forest College
Webster University
Reed College

I'm a Psychology major, and am considering doubling in English. I'd then need somewhere with teacher certification. I also a a minor in Bioethics, Biology, and Spanish. Anywhere that has these programs (and especially strong programs) would be wonderful. I'd also like to have lots of choices for study abroad and not a party-heavy school, nor a mainly commuter school.

Hmmm if you had kept a good GPA, I'd suggest WashU since it's not too crazy hard to transfer into, but that GPA really messes things up.

Suppose I stick out another semester or two, get my GPA up to at least a 3.2...what do you think then?

My best friend is at WashU and hates it. I don't know. sigh

Ugh really why does he/she hate it? That's not good to hear.

I still think your GPA will be too low for top schools, but apply to a few that interest you as you have nothing to lose. I would suggest looking into Boston University, Northeastern...

She is not happy with her classes, mainly. She is pre-med, but switching to a women's studies major now, and I'm sure that will make her happier.

I wish I'd actually put some effort into college, but I pretty much hated it here from the beginning, and I was seriously depressed.

Transfering is typically easier than getting in as a freshman. I don't know your criteria for choosing a school, but I'd recommend working on your GPA (getting above 3.0) and looking at schools ranked around 50-80 as good matches.

I don't know what Pitzer's transfer policy is like, but it might be worth reapplying. Pitzer has a reputation for rejecting overqualified applicants who they think might only view them as a safety school, and it looks like you may have been a victim? If you're able to express particular interest, it could be worth another shot.

Good luck!

I highly doubt I was a victim of that, because I applied early action, and tried to make it clear that Pitzer was my first choice. Everyone (college counselors included) was fairly shocked I didn't get in, because I was definitely qualified. Oh well. I don't think my 2.5 gpa would look good, and could I handle being rejected from my first choice TWICE? I don't know...
