Today is on of the Revisit Days at a number of NE boarding schools. Mother Nature is having a bit of a giggle because light ice pellets are currently falling in parts of Connecticut and rain is highly likely near Boston. I wonder how the vile weather will impact ultimate acceptance decisions. Thoughts?

Weather always has an influence on decision-making, although I would think revisits would be more immune than first tours. Prospective students will be fired up no matter what today, but existing students are rolling out of bed and, like most of us in New England, soldiering on unhappily through a winter that just won’t die. I remember visiting Exeter in a miserable, cold rain in 2004. The tour and the campus were all a bit depressing that day. It shouldn’t have made any difference, but it did.

Our SPS revisit happened on a colder, snow-rainy day but I recall saying to my wife “Even on a bad weather day, this campus is gorgeous.”

I was surprised to see Choate covered in snow today (love that webcam!), but the walkways are clear. I think snow is unfortunate because it inhibits the type of roaming you might want to do, but if you’re choosing a school in NE, this is what you’ll have to deal with. I would hope no one would pass on a school due to weather. It’s not like Choate is covered in snow while Hotchkiss is in bloom.

The kids did not seem to mind the weather at all. And the school we visited was prepared for it-warm drinks everywhere, help on the walkways, umbrellas, pictures of sunny days…The families from far away did ask “if the weather is always like this”. This New England parent however wonders why I’m am living here and if it is too late (for my entire family) to apply to IMG :)

Oh man, the time I visited Deerfield, it was pouring, and that could have affected my decision not to apply.

My parents didn’t like the environment there that much, but they left the final call to me, and I decided no. In hindsight, that could have been a stupid decision, but I didn’t think I fit.

Today, however, is sunny and the temps will rise to 50. Gotta love New England…

I was at exeter yesterday, and I didn’t think the weather mattered a bit! All of the students were happy and excited to see me. They couldn’t have been nicer and the faculty was the same way. I can’t wait to go back next year! The weather didn’t put a damper on the day in the slightest (although I am used to NE winters, I can’t speak for other kids)

wish i was at experience exeter too… you’re making me jealous exeterbunny xD how was it?

RockComet, it was great! The classes were so so interesting and everybody was having fun. They weren’t putting on a show and I really liked that- I got a taste of a typical day.

@exeterbunny It’s awesome that you’re liking it. I can’t wait for L’ville revisit.

Haha, it will be interesting for me… I live in Houston, so I don’t know how I’ll feel about the snow up in NE.

@usernamess Same here, Socal weather is so monotonously nice…

Bulldog, IMG weather is monotonous. Sunny, clear skies. Boring. ;)

Choatiemom-went to Hkiss revisit day March 29. Sorry but there was no snow.

Well, it is April now, I guess no more snow for a while :(

@mrnephew Don’t speak too soon. Really. You’ll jinx it.

But there WAS snow on the same day. And, it’s not like it was winter at C and summer at H. I think you know what I meant.

Seems you don’t mind bit of weather, dowzerw. :)

Exeter Revisit today and we put our jackets in the car at lunch. What a lovely day!
