Buying a bed for son's new apartment

My son will be furnishing an apartment this fall, and I was thinking of maybe purchasing an inexpensive bed for him from a store in Boulder. He will be arriving in August with nothing in that apartment and maybe if I bought the bed ahead of time and had it delivered after he arrived, he would have at least have that in his new home. Does anyone local to the Boulder area know any good places to buy inexpensive beds? I imagine he can find other furniture he will need, at local thrift stores, but the bed would be more difficult. Especially since he will not have a car available to him.

Rousse54, we didn’t buy our kids’ beds in Boulder, but there is a Mattress Firm in Boulder on Arapahoe that sells and delivers: [Mattress Firm | 2525 Arapahoe Ave. Ste. E20 | Boulder CO 80302 | Boulder](http://www.mattressfirm.com/stores/colorado/boulder/boulder.aspx)

We use American Furniture Warehouse, which isn’t in Boulder, but delivers to Boulder: [American Furniture Warehouse](http://www.afwonline.com/)

Thanks ColoradoMomof2! Is the American Furniture Warehouse relatively inexensive? He is moving into an unfurnished townhouse, and it has nothing…And since he is from California and one roomate is from Miami, it is hard to know how to furnish it. One roomate is local, from Denver, but not sure how much he will be able to contribute to the furnishing.

Yes, they offer all sorts of furniture in a wide variety of prices, so you can find everything there.

Funny you should ask about this. When my D moved into her apartment I search the internet for bed deals in the Denver area. We flew in, drove to some godforsaken town, got a mattress, strapped it to the roof of the rental car, and drove 45 minutes at 25 mph to Boulder. At which point we passed about 10 mattress stores within a few blocks of her apartment.

My advice - don’t worry about it, get it when you are there, and keep in mind he’ll be leaving it behind in 3 years. Got the rest of her furniture at Target and Staples.

Speaking of which, my D is moving out and her bed is for sale…

drb: Is her bed really for sale? Send me a private message if you are really serious! He will be flying back himself, I do not think we will be going with him this time. So he is on his own…But Target and Staples are good suggestions! I will look into those…
