No really, my absolute maximum budget is $1200. I stated this in my first post, so there’s no need to be a dick and say “get a good job bla bla”. No. 1200 bucks, end of story.

Keep in mind I won’t be putting a whole lot more miles on it. Just a car to get me around town for a while.

The guys from Top Gear drove from Miami to New Orleans in sub $1000 cars without much trouble, so I know it’s possible.

Is it possible to lease a car for 200 bucks a month?

Is there a website where I can find out how all of this works and how much it costs? It works different in the USA than where I live.

1200 bucks for a car should be perfectly possible.

Since I do not know what monthly costs I can expect, I haven’t come up with a budget for that. That’s exactly what I’m trying to figure out here.

No. I’m not telling you what you want to hear.

Should be, but isn’t.
Actually… that’s not true. It’s totally possible to get a car for $1200. But one that runs and isn’t going to cost you more than another grand in repairs over the 6 months or whatever that you have it… not gonna happen.

I have been going at this process of finding a car for ~$1k every 8 months or so like clockwork since my now-fiance turned 16. He would buy a car for about $1k and then put another $1k or so of repairs into it before it would finally die about 7 months later. Then it would just be cheaper to get a new car. He finally got a car from a dealership when he had a steady enough job to make payments. So much cheaper.

And you would think with the crappy economy that people would be willing to sell cars for less- but I actually know quite a few people that are systematically selling their cars for parts and making more money than just selling the car. People want parts right now instead of new vehicles.

As for fees- try doing a quick Google search for how much plates cost in Florida. You can also just find a random car and run a quick auto insurance quote to see how much it would cost you.

OP- you’re looking at at least $100 a month for car insurance & gas alone. (if you get the bare minimum car insurance… but if you get into a wreck you’re screwed)

You’re either really naive or delusional.
I’m going to go with the latter, since you can’t get it through your head that $1200 is NOT enough.
