Buying a computer/student discounts

I plan on buying a new laptop for college, and I am aware that Barnard has agreements with Dell and Apple so students/faculty can get discounts. I have decided to get a Mac because of my major (film), but when I tried to shop online it said I needed a Columbia username and password to get the discount. Can anyone give me any information/advice on this? Thanks!

go to columbia.edu and search for yourself. your name should come up along with your uni, and then you can search for how to set up your uni and password and you should be good to go. (this is also how to get your email address, which is how to get facebook. :) )
if you go to the apple store you don't need this. or at least i didnt, they took it on my word that i was a student.

Many Barnard students are not yet in the Columbia system so that doesn't work (yet). But this is on the Columbia computer site: quote: Entering students who do not have an active UNI:
Call Apple Sales at 1-800-692-7753 open Mon-Fri, 9AM to 6PM.
Identify yourself as a new Columbia student and place your order.

(Dell)Entering students who do not have an active UNI should call Dell at 1-800-695-8133 and give Columbia's Dell Member ID: US24184416.

odd, last year it worked for me at the beginning of may. well, regardless, you can still get the discount.

www.dell.com/columbia will give you all of the discounts and doesnt require a UNI login.

btw, i definitely recommend adding on the intel wireless card
