Buying a meal plan and eating with your sorority?

i have read here that sorority members are supposed to eat at their houses?

how does this work with buying the campus meal plan?

There’s a section in Bama Dining about this…

A student chooses a meal plan, but after they pledge, they can downgrade their plan…

[Welcome to CampusDish at The University of Alabama!](http://www.campusdish.com/en-US/CSS/Alabama/MealPlans/FraternityandSorority.htm)

Here is how the meal plan worked for DD in a sorority…each house could be a little different…

At Bama Bound you sign up for a freshman meal plan.
All freshman are required a meal plan.

After recruitment; new greek members will automatically get their meal plan reduced to the “Greek 40”; 40 meals a semester (again I believe this is required…) This worked out for DD she liked meeting with non greek friends & friends from different houses at lunch or dinner! (A few times a month)

So you already paid to UA; $$ will be credited to students university account in Students Recievables. (This takes 3-4 weeks depending on reporting from the sorority.)

Depending on how you pay for room & board; there will be a few weeks while the Greek meal plan is processed. At the sorority you will recieve bill which includes students meal plan. ( DDs house has 3 different accounts 1) House fees & meals 2) National dues per semester 3) a rotating account for tshirts etc.

So for a month or so you are paying or have paid for 2 meal plans until student is reimbursed. This is only for fall semester.

In the spring your UA bill is for Tuition & Room & additional fees… Then you pay sorority the meal plan & their fees. As a freshman I believe you are required the Greek 40.

It all runs pretty smoothly, you just have to watch your student account . We recieved no contact concerning reimbursement $$ in account.

Go to the link in my above post for the details of downgrading after pledging. They’re offering 3 choices for those who pledge. The choices might be new for Fall 2010.
