Has anyone ever bought one of the spots at an apartment building?? If so, did you buy it from a person who didn't want their spot or from the building directly and how far in advance did you do it?? Any help would be really appreciated since I need parking for next year and won't be eligible to get on-campus parking. Thanks for your help!!

Someone was selling a parking spot on Veteran for $150/month. Check the Facebook Marketplace.

check facebook, the ucla LJ community, and the my.ucla forums regularly. as soon as you see a listing come up, contact the person. i've seen people jump on offers within minutes online. so if you see a listing, just contact the person renting the spot and work out the price. you basically just pay them every month like you'd pay any other bill.

oh and most of the spots that are rented are done by the tenants, not building management. it's actually fairly rare that a building will open spots for rent to non-tenants. so you're primarily going to be dealing with tenants. they basically sublet their parking spot to you like they would a room.

I rented a parking space from someone living in the Midvale Apartments last year. Be prepared to pay a lot for a spot that isn't very close to campus. Looking back on it, I would have been better off leaving my car at home. If you do decide to do it though, check the myucla forums a few times a day. I didn't actually secure my spot until August so if you don't get something right away, don't get too discouraged.
