I've begun the process of looking up my textbooks for my classes and found that I could save some money getting them from online websites rather than through the bookstore. However, as move-in approaches in a week, I do not want to take the chance of having them arrive to my house after I leave. Is there a way that I can have it ship to campus instead (with my housing room number) and pick it up once I move in?

Are you asking if you can have something shipped to your dorm address? There should be a mail room in your Unit somewhere where you can pick up packages, so there shouldn't be a problem. Where are you living?

when you receive a package that is too big to fit into the little mail slots, they put a piece of paper with a notification for you - including your name, the type of item, and the day it arrived. you can then take that slip of paper to the front desk during open hours, sign for your package, and pick it up. i would assume that this service would be available starting move-in day. as for shipping address for the dorms, you can find the mailing addresses for each of the dorms online. just make sure you have your room number, dorm name, and your name on the address, and it should find its way to you.

Hmm, I asked the housing office and they said that it might be risky to do that right now because even though the room numbers have been released, they aren't final until we actually move in. Things can change if issues arise such as staffing.

Is this a big deal in your opinion? Should I just go ahead and set my room number as the delivery address?

i don't think it's a big deal. while there is a small possibility of room changing within the first week, this occurs to only a handful of students. furthermore, i had instances last year in which only my name was on the package - with no room number - and they were still able to get the package to me by matching up my name with the room number. just make sure you have a unique name...
