Buying some new music tonight

I'm going out to buy some new music tonight.

Any suggestions?

What a loaded question. Can't go wrong with the classics tho, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult...

Oh. My. GOD. You absolutely, must, have to, RAAAAAR buy the Old 97's CD Too Far to Care. Or Fight Songs. But Too Far to Care is better. In fact, it's probably the best CD I've ever heard ever. EVER.

It's like indie rock meets Texan bluegrass. They're the shiz. I want to hug them into little tiny bits.

If you don't have John Legend, cop that.
The Killers I like.
I like John Mayer because he has a good voice.
If you like rap then you have to get THE GAME.
I heard that 50 Cent's new album is pretty weak.
Old school- Al Green just came out with a new album

baby, Old97's sounds interesting...I'll check it out.

King, I heard one cut from j Legend, I liked it. How's the rest?

I think that John Legend is a hot talent. You have to hear the entire album. Its has that gospel feel to it because of the background singers he uses.

That should say 'It'

I forgot too mention the MTV Smashups Album Linkin Park and Jay Z
Linkin Park is my favorite rock group and Jay Z is one of my favorite rappers so that album was the ****.

The Walkmen's "Bows And Arrows" is brilliant. "The Rat" alone is probably worth the purchase.

Does anybody listen to Flogging Molly? Fun music.

Kal,

I think we have similar taste (based on another thread) and I think you might like The Duhks. Some of the hottest music I've heard in a while. It's startling, really. Check it out. It's like oldtime americana meets Irish meets Aretha Franklin-Mahalia Jackson gospel. Totally dynamic and FRESH!

Old 97's Drag it Up is their newest album and I give it 2 thumbs way way up... The best song is "The New Kid" definitely download that track.

Oh and you must must must check out Belle and Sebastian, they are the coolest British band around at the moment.

pick up an album by benny benassi or armin van buuren... can never go wrong with those wonders.

I like Flogging Molly. A friend of mine is trying to rope us all together to play a rendition of "Drunken Lullabies." Most of us don't play the instrument to which we're assigned...he doesn't play banjo, another friend doesn't play accordion, I don't play guitar, and our bassist sucks.

It'll be fun.

Q: How is music like sex?

A: For every one person that pays for it, hundreds are getting it for free.

haha.

TheBeers-- I'm like freaking out that you know who the Old 97's are!! Craziness!! I would kill for them. I am mentally smothering them right now. (haha, i'm such a psycho) Drag It Up is a great album-- geez, there's not one CD of theirs I don't like, and out of something like 100 songs they've had, I dislike maybe 2? 3?

Won't Be Home, from Drag It Up is great. My favorite song of theirs is Salome, from Too Far to Care. Barrier Reef and Dressing Room Walls and Streets of Where I'm From and Up the Devil's Pay are insane too.

Ok, I could go on all day. I shall not.

kane:
That sounds so cool!
Sometime a month or so ago, several of us were hanging out in the ski room when this kid put a Flogging Molly CD in the stereo. He's a great -- Danish, but thinks he's Irish. Anyway, soon it boiled down to about 10 sweaty guys, jumping, hugging each other, stomping their feet, and dancing about in a tight circle. The spontaneity was absolutely the best bit.

The Massacre.

hey, thanks everyone!

grabbed the OLD 97's, it's really good, thanks for the rec.

Also,, The Duhks. It's f***in' wicked cool! knocked out!

I plan to check out some of the others I didn't see posted till I was outta here last night. thanks again.
