When I go on ISIS and check the books I need for Fall, some of the courses say that the professors haven't listed them yet and that I should email them requesting they post the book list. Is that awkward? I don't really know how professor/student relationships work but I can't fathom sending an email to a professor saying "tell me what books I need lol bai". So, do I just wait until later (because it IS early) or am I actually supposed to ask them personally what books to buy?

One of my classes it says the same thing, but I don't think I need to buy a textbook for that class since it's a weird honors one. Which classes are you talking about?

You can email them if you want or just wait until the first day of class. They'll tell you then (it should be on the syllabus they hand you). Textbook deferment can be done through the first week.

...or you could get them and always return them if you get them from the bookstore

a question on textbook deferment and buying used books from the uf bookstore:

Would it be wise to select a used book online via the uf bookstore?
Would they sell you one that is completely written all over and in horrible condition? and if so, could one exchange the book for one that is in better condition?

.......i have to purchase books too. -_-

What if you have a class that is taken online such as ECO 2013 with Denslow?

I'm thinking about buying books online. I heard half.com was good.

I've checked the list of textbooks I need to get. Do professors sometimes change the textbooks they've already listed? Should I just wait until I get the syllabus from each professor and then buy online?

hmm...so i tried to purchase a textbook online from the UF bookstore for calc. i'm really confused....calc classes may require several books? or just one? i have three boxes of required material for calc. what do the abbreviations next to the title mean? pkg packaging...?

ex.
APPLIED CALCULUS (PKG)
Applied Calculus (V1)(CUSTOM) (V1)
Applied Calculus (SSM)

You don't need the book for the ECO. Just watch the lectures and perhaps buy the smokin' notes for it. Denslow will talk about it the first online lecture.
