Am I screwed if I didn't order my textbooks online right now or can we just go to pick them up?...I just have to get the math3a and the LA cluster material because my friend is selling me his chem14a stuff.

no of course you're not screwed... you just have to deal with a long line

you can just order them online right now and then pick them up when you get there right?

and also does anyone have experience with buying used books online? can we return them if they're missing pages or something?

also - cs 1 doesn't have any books because its a seminar?

You can just order them and pick them up when you get there. It's like $4 more if you do that.

I'm pretty sure if there are missing pages in the used books, you can return them. That would be awful if they didn't refund you. If I was UCLA, I would buy half destroyed books and sell them to students to make a profit, lol.

ya true lol

correct. you did not need any type of supplementary materials for CS1

k thanks just wanted to make sure =)

Hmmm. Thats interesting. Why would it be $4 more though? Shouldn't it be cheaper because of no shipping and handling charges?

There is also Textbooks Plus down the block if you are desperate and deals online are not so much different from actual prices (i.e. what $$ UCLA sells you).

They charge some $4 fee for getting the book for you and holding it or something.

There's a flat $3.95 charge for picking up books. In comparison shipping books within California costs $4.95 for the first item and one dollar for each additional item.

Edit: Bleh you beat me to it.

crap, I been busy working the past couple days and tonight I found out it is too late to order online to do store pickup... but I can still buy from the store right? I mean as long as I can get the book I don't really care about long lines... just curious, about how long are we talking about? 2 hours? 4 hours?

just go in the morning, before lunch time, and the line should be minimal. lunch time people will stop by to get their books and afternoon people will stop buy to get their books on their way back from class.

peak times, maybe like 1-1.5 hours?

this is during 1st week though. dont know what its like during zero week when everyone is free.

It's too late to order for store pickup? Darn, I'll try to get it done zero week.

How long do they sell the books for? Into the first week?

Also, when is the last day to get a full refund on the books? and through that time, do they have to be unopened?

thanks

If it's a package, they must be unopened. You usually have 2 weeks (until the primary drop period ends).

I missed the order deadline as well.. so how does it work exactly? Do we just go in with the list of the books we need and the people at the store help us find it? Or do we go in and find all of the books ourselves? Thanks

The bookstore is broken down by subject matter (ex, math, history, etc) and I'm sure that if you need help finding a certain book than a worker there would be more than happy to help you.

Well hopefully you sorta remember the orientation they gave you during orientation... You go in with the list (hopefully). Books are sorted by subject and they have classes listed on the tags - go in grab the books and pay. If you need help they'll be there, but plan to be on your own.

Do we have a school sponsored student textbook exchange sort of thing here where students sell their used books on campus?
