DS and I fly out of Baltimore/Washington Int'l Airport Monday evening for a college visit up north. Being in NoVa, we fly out of Reagan or Dulles, much less so BWI. I know that BWI has a reputation for a tough long term parking situation, tho I see on their website a coupon to park in "Express Parking" or "Daily Garage" for $9/day. Any tips from BWI veterans? Thanks.

I used the BWI Express parking coupon last month for a SW direct flight to San Diego (also a DCA or IAD flyer)…
The shuttle waited for me to unload at my vehicle and dropped me at my trunk on the return.
It was wonderful!

The express shuttle will pick you up at your car and drop you off at it. No hauling your stuff to/from the shuttles stops like at Dulles. It was a lifesaver when DD flew back after graduation and had tons of stuff. The airline baggage charges kicked in between when we moved east and when she graduated in WA or she’d have kept less stuff with her for the last year.

Sounds like the way to go–so are there just shuttle buses that wander thru the Express lot looking for cars who are parking or do you flag them down as you enter the lot?

I’ve used express parking several times, and it’s outstanding. When you pull into the lot, an employee will point out where you should park. The shuttle will come by while you’re unloading your car and take you right to the airport. They seem to have enough shuttles running that they’re always available. I think you’ll have a good experience at BWI. I greatly prefer it to Dulles.

When I pulled in, staff directed me to a specific parking area. The shuttle essentially followed me there.

Excellent–thanks much. (you’re right, momjr–Dulles is a pain!)
